I hace a system that I am swapping processors on. I will be installing an Athlon XP 2000+ Palomino CPU. The CPU did not come with a HSF but I have a Global Win FOP 32 (I think) laying around that I used when overclocking an Athlon 1000.

Any thoughts on if this cooler will cool the 2000+ or do I need to invest in another HSF. I have no plans on overclocking this chip.

Might work. I have one on a lightly overclocked xp1700. I don't think you'll do any damage...it might run a little hot. Monitor the temp.

Use good TIM like AS and you'll be fine. That fan on the FOP32 is a little buzzsaw. Plenty of air movement.

I always use artic silver. The fan on that thing is super loud. Might change to a different cooler at some point to reduce the noise a bit.
