GlobalFoundries has told the European Commission that TSMC is unfairly using loyalty rebates, exclusivity clauses and bundled rebates and even penalties to discourage customers from switching to rivals, the source said.

The practices, which go back several years, have affected GlobalFoundries’ ability to compete, the source said, adding that the tactics escalated after a key GlobalFoundries product started to win new customers.

TSMC denied the allegations.

This is interesting times in the foundry landscape as TSMC faces renewed competition from Globalfoundries and Samsung. I am curious what is the key GF product mentioned here . 7LP or 22FDX. I think the next few years are going to be very exciting to watch in the foundry industry.

If it's been going on several years, presumably the key product was 28nm.

22 FDX is probably the most interesting product from GF for IoT, low power and low cost mobile / RF. I think its probably has better RF performance and power efficiency vs TSMC 22ULP and Intel 22FL . GF 22FDX is also having a slight time to market advantage against the competition.

But 22FDX has not been available for "several years", so it can't be that.

Even though it was claimed to be happening for a few years, I interpret the statement to read that a new product's introduction was when GloFlo basically said "that's enough". So we're talking about a recent intro that caused the response.

First they lost AMD, aka RTG, GPUs and second are AMD s custom chips for the XBox 2 and the next PS...

Consoles have more to do with quantity. I bet GF doesn't have enough fabs to create all the PS4 and xbox socs. Especially not now since they are all filled up with producing Ryzen dies.

Several Years!?

Come On, GF! You only just gotten around making better node and filling capacity, it is on going good. Now you are playing this card?

I mean, were GF seriously competing in the past, no, since its inception? Fabs Capacity, Yield, Roadmap Delays, performance, density.
