Global warming? True or false

It might be true, but it's way over-hyped. We aren't sure what weather conditions were like 10-20,000 years ago... we may just be going through a pattern of warming that happens on this planet anyway. No matter what scientists say, noone really knows for sure because they weren't there.

This is very much true. People should start respecting the environment a little bit more.

True. I believe that our energy consumption of the recent 100 years would have some effect within a closed system such as the earth. Coupled with deforestation, changes in climate is inevitable. Do I believe we have to panic? No but we should move closer to greater use of cleaner fuels.

True, but who says it's not a natual cycle? I don't think anyone can say "It's never warmed up this fast ever."

I do think we should take care of the enviornment, and respect nature (heck, I voted for Gore), I just don't see global warming as anything but natural.

False, I remeber in the 1970's they were saying we needed to start to worry about a coming ice age. Most of the people who claim global warming take the temps on earth and yes they may have risen somewhat. Others however will say that if you look at the temps in the upper atmosphere they are not going up. I don't really know who to believe but think it's mostly marketing hype to sell you something.

True, accurate satellite data shows that the average global temperature across the world has on average increased for the past 20 years. There has also been a correlated increase in CO2 in the atomsphere. Not conclusive, but very compelling.

True, cause scientists who study it are starting say it is, but in Minnesota the weather seems to be swigning to both extremes, i.e., record highs and record lows over the last several years. I heard that in the middle of the continent, the effects of global warming could cause super cold winters. Sounds odd, so who's to say?

TRUE, the polar ice cap is thinning, is it due to pollution? EH? Who knows but the Avg. temp is going up that much is true.

True. Something is afoot. What exactly causes it and can we change it, I don't know. I do know that all the Jacaranda trees in my area are gone, and when I was a kid, this place used to be carpeted with purple flowers every year.

My point is, in the 30 years that I have been on the planet, I have seen a tree that was once common disappear from the county. It only took about 15 years to happen... That's pretty fast.

Interesting statement Czar. Apparently you have accurate records of the temparatures around the globe for the last several millenia. Please share, where did you get this data?

There is no evidence that global warming is occuring. We don't have enough evidence. We only have weather data for the last 50-60 years (something like that).

And it is occuring faster than ever and the shrinking ozone is starting to create problems in the southern hemispere.
What we don't know is the concequences good or bad.
IE there will be flooding from a rising ocean but they find plants grow better in a higher CO2 atmosphere which may make some marginal lands more productive crop wise. Tit for Tat.
There is evidence for global warming, we have trees that are thousands of years old that by growth rings indicate the weather of the seasons. Also we have Artic core samples of Ice that are thousands of years old and they now can determine weather from those.
Ain't technology grand
Finally weather data has been around in NA for about 100 years and much longer than that in Europe

Whether it is true or not is moot. We are simply putting too much crap into the environment. Something is goinging to give and we are witnessing some changes already. Respitory disease is on the rise, allergies are increasing both in the amount of people having them and in there severity, weather extremes(predicted when Global Warming was first brought to the fore) are happening. We could wait for conclusive proof like the lobster in the pot, but if we have the abillity to adjust our ways, it is best to err on the side of caution.
