This is my sis's laptop I helped her purchase for Christmas. It's only 5 months old and just recently has started to have weird screen issues. Some of the time it's wavy lines that flicker in the screen. Other times it's wavy distortions that start primarily at the bottom of the screen. She has the most trouble during Guild Wars, primarily on loading screens between maps. However, once when it got bad, she exited the program and it still continued it's shenanigans with only the desktop on display.

I think it's the screen itself. She has tried to take screenshots of the problem, but all of the screenshots turn out normal so I don't think it's driver related. Moving the screen while she's playing a game does not induce the problem. However, the freaky thing is, that when it starts, she can remedy the problem by tapping lightly on the lappy or the table it's sitting on. I've told her to stop this for now because I don't want to damage her HD.

I purchased the lappy through Newegg, so should my first call be to them or ASUS about the problem? In your experience should I start RMA now or do I have to wait till the thing totally takes a dump on me?

Thanks for all your help AT! I'll try and update with info as soon as I get it. I'm surfing Google Images looking for pictures that show what I'm experiencing right now, will check back later.

PS- Does changing the drivers void the warranty? If not, recommendations on websites to use would be much appreciated.

Edit: Updated info.

I'm sure al,l you need to do is update the video drivers. Give that a try. if that doesn't help then you may be overheating the laptop and no just the video.
