glitches during gameplay

OK WTF I keep getting glitches during games( I'm playing @ 1024x768).Its a pain in the arse when racing.

this is what I have
Athlon 1ghz 200fsb on an MSI K7T Turbo
Kingmax PC133 256MB
nVidia Geforce 2MX 400 64MB
acer 8x4x32x
delta 12x40x
30gig ATA 100 7200rpm

 
yep I do actually is that possibly the problem?how do I keep it from starting with windows.is that one of the programs in the config.sys or autoexec.bat
