Maybe the faternity should be charge with one count of grand theft for every car???

Why? I have not seen anything that shows they gave those people permission to park there. As such the tow is legal.

Now if there is proof that the owner put the signs up to allow it or play a joke on them then yea. But I have not seen that at all.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Dozens of people who parked at the University of Central Florida for an event say they were set up after their cars were towed. They said event parking signs directed them to a lot, but more than 50 cars in that lot were towed. People said those signs and their cars were gone when they got back.

A viewer contacted WFTV after his car was towed Saturday, along with 52 others. All of them were in line to recover their cars at an impound lot and all of them attended the Glenn Beck show at UCF.

The people parked in a Kappa Sigma lot. Mike Vedder thinks they were set up. He doesn't know if it was a dislike of the conservative commentator or money.

“Maybe the have a deal with the tow truck company or maybe they got kickbacks under the table," Vedder said.

They all said an event parking sign clearly directed them into the lot. Students at the fraternity wouldn't comment, but WFTV caught up with the owner of Orange County Towing and Recovery, Ronald Hulbert.

"I have a lot at stake, a lot invested. I'm not going to lose it over a $125 tow, times 53, times 53, it was a good day," Ronald Hulbert said.

Hulbert admits he's never towed that many cars in one day before; he said it took him at least eight hours to tow all the cars. Each driver had to pay cash, netting him more than $6,600.

Vedder also had to pay $25 for a cab ride to the tow company.

UCF said, out of 30 recent events, it hasn’t had a problem, but Vedder said this was his last at that arena.

“I won’t come to anymore. I'm going to tell everyone else it's not a place I want to be," he said.

WFTV was told to call Paul Gamble with Kappa Sigma, but he did not return any phone calls.

To a 12 year old, maybe they are adults.

To me they are still wet behind their ears. Hell, they aren't even old enough to buy hard liquor.

They're old enough to join the military and legally kill people.

They're old enough to get married.

They're old enough to be tried as adults for crimes.

College is a pretty good time to teach boys how to become men.

If they are culpable, I hope that they get caught and prosecuted. I really doubt that every frat member failed to notice that their parking lot was getting filled up, and just happened to call the towing company after the Beck event started.

Alright, how about this for honesty. I admit I find this funny, and that I find it funny because it was a Glenn Beck event.

However, I do think these frat guys should be prosecuted. If it had happened to me, I'd have been really pissed. I've had my car towed before and it totally sucks.

OK smart guy, I totaly agree they are old enough to be tried as adults.

So what law was it they broke? Putting up a false sign perhaps?

And who was it who did the actual breaking of the law that was broken, that is if you can actually come up with a law that was broken?

If the victims didn't have to pay money as part of the "prank" it would be ok.

Reminds me of an SNL skit. Christopher Walken is on a show called Pranksters where the "prank" he shows is just a video of him beating someone to death with a tire iron.

question here, I must have missed it but I didn't see anywhere in that article that said the prank was done by college students. Just one line at the end where the reporter was suppose to call someone from a frat, and that person never answer. So did I miss it or how can one insinuate this was a frat prank?

I wrote a long reply but AT logged me out.
So I'll just summarize. Look up the Florida statutes on theft.

Even if no criminal offense was committed, then they could be sued for the towing fee, attorneys fees, court costs, taxi fee, etc. Easily $50,000.

If no money was involved, this might have been funny.

Kappa Sigma is a fraternity.

So what, they are one of a dozen frats at UCF, on FRAT ROW!

The fact that a reporter for Channel 9 threw out a hypothetical, does not mean anyone from the frat was involved. It could of easily been another frat, pulling a prank on them. Or genuinely been someone from the Beck event, thinking it was okay to have people park there. Honestly, I am surprise that the UCF cops were not out there directing traffic, they are known for screwing up traffic at events there.

I did say that IF THEY WERE GUILTY they should be held accountable.

You're obviously more familiar with the area than I am. How many members does Kappa Sigma have, and how likely is it that none of them noticed their parking lot filling up with strange cars?
