Beck says US has `wandered in darkness' too long ....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_dc_rally

Is it getting "dark" out at the "white" house? lol Freudian slip my friend! I'm so glad we have a party now dedicated to wingnuts. Sort of sad how many there are, but nutty extremists tend to be useful especially en masse

At least Glen Beck has a positive attitude. Unlike the idiot of a president who wants to apolagize from being an American. Not all problems can be solved by spending more money.

Please provide a link to support the factual statement you assert, for it sounds like total made-up BS to me.

Darkness is a code word for Blacks. We have spent too long pacifying black people and it's time for a race war is his message. We will hear his "I have a dream speech' soon.

"For too long, this country has wandered in darkness,"
"concentrate on the good things in America, the things we have accomplished and the things we can do tomorrow."
"To restore America, we must restore ourselves."

what a lame-ass speech...did he dumb it down or what?

You have seen his constituency. Republicans laugh at them.

The only danger is that they are dividing the party's votes.

That is the Beck Message? "We have been wondering around in the darkness for too long."

The somehow missing in action defect is, Beck has not defined how to get to the light.

Which may not be an accident, because not only has Beck been leading pied piper leading his followers into the darkness, he seem to have no clue regarding the direction of enlightenment.

But Beck may be oddly enough correct about this we must "restore ourselves" stuff, and step one in that restoration is ignore the rantings of Beck and his handmaiden of darkness sidekick Palin.

Ricky Thomas, 43, a SWAT team police officer from Chesapeake Beach, Md., brought his 10-year old son Chase to the Beck rally. "I wanted my son to see democracy in action," Thomas said.

Your average American's stereotypical shallow understanding of democracy. Following a talking head with no ideas on a cash-for-gold publicity stunt is not participating in the democracy. I hope Glenn Beck fleeces this guy of his retirement money through reverse-mortgage and gold schemes. Hopefully his son will receive a better education, but probably not.

I find him making a speech about how the country spends to much time worrying about scars from the Lincoln memorial on MLK day to be...I can't even find the words to describe it.

Akin to Muslims building a victory mosque near Ground Zero?

No, as I don't think Beck is celebrating his victory over the black civil right movement or MLK just like I don't think the mosque has anything to do with 9/11, similarly I think blacks shouldn't fear all whites over slavery and segregation and Americans shouldn't fear every muslim because of 9/11. Because you equate Beck's speech with a "victory mosque" at ground zero I can only assume you disagree with everything I've said.

Not really. Too little thought goes into understanding people's emotions that they disagree with. To some it seems exactly as he says and whether one agrees with it makes no difference. In many things perception is realty.

Yea, he really is annoying if you're the sort of person who thinks we need more tyranny in this country.

Your reasoning isn't consistent. Using your logic, Beck didn't have anything to do with the civil rights movement and it shouldn't be a problem. /sarcasm / Hey, how many blocks would Beck have to be from the monument for you not to have your panties in a bunch? Can't answer that exactly? That must mean it's not insensitive for him to be there. /sarcasm/

Personally, I think he is being insensitive to the civil rights movement. I also happen to think the new Cordoba Center is also a bit insensitive. They both have their rights though.

A few years back we had huge immigration reform rallies. Local builders were kind of pissed that workers were taking the day off to attend (this was the height of the housing bubble). I wonder if Walmart is feeling the pinch today?
