I'm not a big fan of country music and I liked his music. Pretty versatile too, being able to sub with the Beach Boys.

It's been awhile since he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I even made an offensive post about it.

That was pretty bad. :(

Yea, he announced that he had the disease in 2011. The documentary with "I'll be me" came out in 2014, and he was already pretty far down the road.

:(

"wichita lineman" gives me tingles down my neck more often than not. i think it's a combo of his awesome voice, the filters and the key changes.

also "galveston" and "gentle on my mind" have been on my playlists for decades.

Same here was going through all the live versions and found this one for PBS. I am also not a big country fan but I grew up watching his show and listening to his music. Be interesting to visit Wichita and talk to the areas lineman and see what they think.

Here is the entire PBS special.., Glen Campbell, in Concert with the South Dakota Symphony in 2001. It has much better audio.

His songs were too saccharinely sweet for me, but his second to last album "Ghost On The Canvas" (they diagnosed the Alzheimer's while he was recording it) is an absolute masterpiece. He was also a truly great guitarist. I saw an interview with him and his wife about a year ago. At that point he had pretty much forgotten how to talk but she said that nearly every day he would pick up the guitar and play something amazing.

And the documentary mentioned above, I'll Be Me, is fantastic, especially for those with Alzheimer's in the family.
