I destroyed my old desk the other day while moving it to paint, so I hit the standard office supply stores. Most looked hideous or had completely wrong dimensions, but did see a relatively nice looking glass model which would be one of my top choices along with a couple more standard wood/veneer tops. Anyone have a glass top model and care to comment?

the one I'm considering

I have an L shape 1/4" glass desk, love mine. Sleek looking, has an upper shelf for my monitor. If you do decided to go with it, there are clear plastic desk top area cover, that would help also to protect the glass.

I like them, a friend of mine has one and I think they look pretty sharp. Birghtens up the room a little too and makes it looke bigger IMO.

Good looking desk, but extremely small.

I personally like a massive desk. HUGE.

I would use a dining room table if I could.

I was in the same position. Ended up getting 2 of glass l desks from Officemax when they were on sale for 70 bucks each. Don't see em on the site anymore, so can't link ya. I'll up a picture of it when I get home.

Aside from that, I was really considering this one from Costco which seems sturdier and has that shelf, but at 230 bucks more, it just wasn't worth it.

Try looking on your local craigslist.

Oh, and watch for what kind of monitor you have, as the one I have can only hold 100 lbs per side and 75 on the corner. Was a nice excuse to upgrade from my crt to an lcd.

Frys often has this one for like 100 bucks around here, but it didn't have my main requirement, the keyboard drawer.

EDIT: Found it. Its this one. Damn, I thought it was a good deal at the time (which is why I got 2 instead of one and had a hell of a time getting them into my camry and then into my 2nd story apartmento), but even at that probably inflated msrp, it was a good deal at 70 each.

Yes, the glass top appeals to me, though.

I have worn out my "L" shaped desk using the mouse (just from my wrist touching it).
