glass of water + keyboard

Poured almost a full glass of water on my keyboard at work. had to pour the water from the keyboard out, and what's even better, is it still works. i got an old spring loaded dell keyboard. this thing is a beast!

Someone at work decided to dump a large cup of coffee on her keyboard. It did not survive. It was a cheap Keytronics keyboard.

All depends on how high the ridge is around the hole the keys snap into. As long as the liquid doesn't get higher than that to actually get down inside the keyboard you should be mostly OK...

My memory escapes me i nmy old age, but back nithe early At form factor days there were KBs you could literally place in the dishwasher and clean them with your dinner plates. Now, in this disposable age, we purchase pieces of cr@p for 10x the price.

AFAIK most will still work after being submerged in water as long as...

1. It wasn't plugged in at the time.
2. You let it dry out before you try to use it.

I routinely clean my two keyboards by removing all the keys and submerging them. They both have a plastic membrane between the actual circuitry and the keys.

Try the dishwasher next time. I don't think a washing machine is gentle enough.

i got a saitek keyboard, my daughter knocked over my spit bottle on it, still works like new.

I've done this too, and cleaned it and it worked, smelled bad before i cleaned it though.

I have 2 old Dell mechanical keyboards (Model AT101W). Both are in use as I refuse to use a membrane keyboard. Both keyboards have been disassembled and washed in my kitchen sink.

Spilled Coke on the first one, and eventually the left shift key would stick, rendering my typing to LOOk LIke THis. Bought another Dell mechanical keyboard and soon thereafter, washed and fixed my original one. Very durable keyboard!
