Hello everyone.

I don't know where I should post such a question so I hope the
moderators won't mind if I post it here.

I need information on how to make the black spots on a
cracked LCD go away. I know this is the result of the
display liquid leaking threw the cracks.

I'm sure I'm not the first person who has come across
the issue of dealing with an LCD who's inner glass has
been cracked.

Please help me. Does anyone know of any method of
reducing or getting rid of the black spots?
Are there any web pages on the net that explain
what to do if something like this happens?

What should I do to prolong the life of the LCD.
I can live witht he fine cracks on the screen, but
I fear that the black spots point to a bigger problem.

Once again, Please help.

Dont press on or flex the screen, other than that start saving your money for a new one.

At least you didnt say "it's not my fault, a flying monkey sat on it in the bus, and the padded laptop bag I bought didnt save it" <----- Customers allways say something like this

The drawback of LCD displays over traditional Vaccumn tubes. More expensive to replace.
The only thing you can do is hold a memorial service for several hundred bucks.
LCD screens are very fragile and the cost of replacement is usually not justifiable.

I think you are SOL with this one. Someone cracked the LCD to their notebook PC in the office and Compaq quoted a price of $1,000 for price and labor. Kinda steep for a PC that originally cost $1,600. We just got a new one and took apart the old one to use as spare parts.

Ugh!!

They want $699 bucks for a new one! Dell can go straight to hell!

I've figured out how to make the black spots go away.

Just gently rub from the center of the crack going out toward the edges.
90% of my screen is now clear and I don't seem to be losing any liquid
so the LCD should last. :)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. =)
