Gladiator 0 or Gladiator 2?

Apparently Dreamworks is in early talks to create another Gladiator film, either a prequel, or sequel. I think sometimes they should just let a good thing be. Gladiator had everything it needed to be a good movie and it was. It doesn't really need a backstory or a continuation. Any thoughts?

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a prequal, there isn't any more to say after the dude's death, since he had no children or anything, but there could be some interesting story, such as ones before the battle.

Yes, let's see how Rome does after they have a new lease on life. Or... let's see how Dreamworks imagines that Rome would do with their new & improved society.

I guess a prequel wouldn't be that bad. It would be nice to know a little more about Maximus' relationship with Commodus when they were younger, and maybe the love story between Maximus and Lucilla.

I would guess it is a prequel.

They can explain the rise of the Soldier Maximus and also explain how a spaniard who has never been to Rome has a love affair with the emperor's daughter... I think the way they dance around their past hints at a prequel showing up to explain all...

Prequel would be pretty damn boring, sequel would be too, without Russel Crowe it's gonna suck. What the hell would they go on? Maybe Mr. Gladiator had a son he didn't know about or something

Don't make any more gladiator movies! If they want to do a movie based on the character, good. But Gladiator should not be in the title.

um, prequel or sequel...it shouldn't be about Maximus....it should be about Gladiators.

Yeah i agree with joshpokeball, without Russell Crowe the preqeul or the sequel will both suck. By the way has anyone heard that Russell Crowe's going to play John Forbes Nash Jr., who was a paranoid schizophrenic mathematician from Princeton University.

i vote for a prequel, so long as it has Russell Crowe in it...it'd be cool to see his rise to power....

off topic: love that beginning scene in Gladiator, reminds me of Age of Empires...hehe..

If they had to make another one I would say a prequel, but I do not think that Crowe would do the moive.
