It's not worth it, because if you suceed, you'll be in a position that goes against who you are and it will make you miserable.

Speaking from experience here. I'm a bit of an introvert, and I can't stand talking down to people, correcting people, or being responsible for other people's actions. However, I "faked" being able to do this so I could get a supervisor position. I ended up having to deal with crap everyday that I normally avoid like the plague, and I HATED my job afterwards.

Luckily I was able to side sift to a service management position or I would have quit.

My point is, if you pretend to be someone you're not to get a job, you're going to end up hating pretending everyday.

agree with this:
Sadly, if the "corrective action" means that if you don't compromise your standards then you will lose your job, then by all means find another one now, unless you think that others higher up the ladder will fight for you if your supervisor is determined to can you.

if i read this right, this is a new boss. i'd look for a new job since this person seems to have an itchy trigger finger.

we rotate supervisors. I think we have 8 now (a couple got demoted or left the company) and every so often the sales teams change. Every other sup I have had has respected my outlook. I am very open and honest about my values. There have been times in the past where I stood my ground and in the end the supervisor agreed with me. However this particular one is unwilling to see the advantage of honesty and integrity. That is fine, its her call.

I really don't want to go over her head since that conflicts with my personal responsibility value. I stopped trying to change others and focus on changing myself. This is the first time those values have conflicted each other.

Networking is not a problem, the problem is that the job market is still recovering here in Michigan. I've had ins at companies and still had issues even getting an interview due to the huge amount of people that apply for every job.

Don't tell lies.

If your supervisor gives you shit because you won't lie to the customers, she's a crummy supervisor. Go to HR or go over her head if you have to.
