So I currently work at a grocery store, I'm getting a better paying job and need to give two weeks notice at my current job, but I have no idea what to write. This is the first job I have given two weeks at, my previous jobs didn't require it.

So what do I write?

Thanks :)

:music:
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
My woman done left and took all the reasons
I was working for
You better not try to stand in my way
As im a walking out the door.
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

Ive been workin in this store
From now on fifteen years
All this time I watched my woman
Drowning in a pool of tears
And Ive seen a lot of good folk die
Who had a lot of bills to pay
I'd give the shirt right off of my back
If I had the nerve to say

Dear Boss,

This is my official written two week notice of resignation of my position. Thank you for opportunity to be under your employ, everything you have done is very much appreciated but I must move on.

Sincerely,

LOL you work at a grocery store, not Merrill Lynch. Don't write anything, just tell your boss 2 weeks and you're out.

Although you don't necessarily need a letter of resignation for a grocery, it wouldn't hurt to give one.

For future reference, all your letter needs to be is like 2-3 sentences long.

Just state which date you are leaving and a quick "thanks for the opportunity".

What's the difference? A job is a job. As long as you don't burn bridges, why would it matter where you work?

Yep. It is just as discourteous to your employer and fellow co-workers to walk off a job at a grocery store without notice as it is to walk off a job at Merril Lynch.

I'm not saying walk off, agree, don't burn bridges. But for a grocery store job, he's doesn't need to write anything. a verbal 2 weeks is fine. most likely the boss wont even need 2 weeks.

Thank you for the opportunity, best of luck in the future, it has been an invaluable experience working with you...

Originality doesn't count. Just give them the lines above.

Require? Since when does a job require you to give two weeks before you leave? Do they give you two weeks notice before they fire you? I doubt it.

But like others have said, just keep it short and to the point. Shouldn't be more than three sentences.

The only job I didn't give a written two weeks notice at was a dishwashing job when I was 15. Always give written notice. Try to avoid stuff like "Peace out bitches".

Although I had dreams of one day managing my own grocery store.
I must pass on the terriffic opportunity that working here has afforded me.
Ihave subsequently allocated gainful emplyment elsewhere!

Two weeks 'til I quit

Or:

Darth Vader's my dad
We're ruling the galaxy
We start in two weeks

Or:

Time passes like rain
Two short weeks, and I'll vanish

Dearest Manager,

Over these last years you have endowed me (oh what an endower you are) with all the nurturing a young boy in a grocery store could ever want, but alas! The produce lacks the same call it once had, and the apple juice is not quite as juicy (perhaps it's not only 99% juice?)

Never the less, I find my self in a predicament, with your twin brother! Therefore I present to you this dual resignation from the both of us...as we have found...other means of gainful employment. Save this...and sell it...when I'm famous.

-S Freud~~

if you're on good terms, asking for a written reference that you
can use in future job searches is not a bad idea. yes, it's "just"
a grocery store, but, you could end up running FEMA.
