Giving notice tomorrow... probably not sleeping tonight

For as much as I thrive on conflict in that my job is to litigate, I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. This is only the 2nd firm I've worked for in 10 years, and I really do like the people I work with/for. No clue how my boss is going to react - I suppose it could be anywhere from gracious/congratulatory to 'pack your shit up and get out.'

I'm opening my own firm (so, going from comfortable salary to guaranteed $0.00) so between that stress and the not looking forward to tomorrow, the good news is I've probably lost a much needed few pounds this past week.

Good Luck Jeebus!

Good luck.

I start a new job tomorrow. I left a good salary in Toronto for a job in a different field in London, UK. Spending the first month living in a hotel in San Francisco though.

I kind of have a pit in my stomach as well.

I have been on disability since June 5th. I go back on Tuesday. Gonna miss sitting around getting paid. Maybe I should take my vacation shortly after I return.

Best of luck though.

Personally, I think I should have started looking again about 6 weeks ago.

I'm not used to the new crap these days, most places I used to work for were at least 10 years at a time.

It's just getting odd where I am atm, I should be looking

GL with the new venture.

I wish you success.

Good luck! I'm interviewing for another job on Tuesday... If I get it, it's gonna be hard to leave my current job and tell everyone there.

I feel you. I recently moved 1,100 miles for a new job. Same employer, but it was still pretty rough leaving behind a place where I was pretty comfortable. Initially I'm also going to be bringing home less money because this city is more expensive, but the new job has much higher earning potential.

It definitely did a number on my stomach. Probably lost 10 pounds that I didn't really need to. Also started having regular heart palpitations. Everything seems to be better now though.

Hang in there! It will get better.

I think you are going to be just fine.

You've already take the most important step; the 1st one - making a decision and going with it.

Coincidentally I did the same thing two weeks ago. Tomorrow is the first day at the new 'old' place. 🙂

Decided to work for a start up about 4 months ago. My last job was stable but stale. Everyone wanted to be a cog in the wheel and not get creative.
Start ups are fun. The thought of a company becoming wildly successful or falling hard on it's face is exciting.

Left my job last job of 10 yrs, IT Manager\technican, for new job network engineer 8 weeks ago, was very nervous, but its all good!

best of luck!

Good luck.

My company got bought out, so I'm kinda scared. Given I work at a NOC that can easily be moved down south or something, but I'm hoping because our NOC does such a large variety of things while the other NOCs specialize in only 1 thing, that it wont be worth it to separate all the tasks to all the other NOCs, they's basically have to hire more people than what we are as we're all one team in one building while the other NOCs are in different places and are different teams. Hell, they could move all those NOCs to us... I doubt it though.

But still scary nonetheless because we don't know anything and wont know ever. They could easily do a move in years from now so when we think things are quiet they may not be in the background.

I seriously need to work on some coding projects to try to have a secondary income. Mobile apps seem to be the easy money these days. Need to learn that. There is not really much in tech here so if I lost my job I'd probably have to look at another field like trades.

Working for yourself is the most secure bet these days though. Companies seem to constantly be looking at ways to lay off or outsource people.
