Giving my employer a 2 week notice

I plan on giving my current employer a 2-week notice on Monday since I found a new job. I was just wondering the "proper" way to do it. Should I do a formal letter, and if so, what should I write in it?

Letter and in-person conference are best. Letter explains the hard facts, and the conference allows to express emotion on the issue.
 
just stop showing up.

change the voice mail on your machine to indicate that you're taking an extended trip to China and do not know when you'll return.

In fact, email is also a good way to do it because you can carbon copy to yourself in case there is a dispute about when or if you quit and gave notice.
 
I just handed in my 2 weeks notice 15 days ago (yesterday was my last day...)

I wrote a letter, went in to work early, told the boss I found another job and gave her the letter. She just said "ok" so I walked away and went to my desk...
 
i usually write a formal letter indicating today's date and when my last day will be(usually 2 weeks later). i make a copy of it and hand the original it to my manager and then discuss any questions he or she has.
 
I wrote one myself about 6 months ago. Since I am in pretty good term with my direct supervisor, I just verbally informed him and then gave him the official resignation letter in person the next day. Just make sure you are not burning any bridges if you intend to use this job as a reference in the future.

That would be the best way. Keep it friendly, don't burn your bridges..

but you may get a raise, some people put under you, and samir and mike may get fired.
 
I'd agree with what is above, but I'd only give a letter if you're a.)Sure they'll let you work the last two weeks or b.)can afford to be asked to make the day you hand in the letter your last day.
 
Either email or tell your boss in person. I refer email because you can have a hard copy for yourself.

Just make sure keep it professional and in good term. You never know.
