Giving/Getting 2 week notice

I was just thinking, I am supposed to give a 2 week notice before I "quit" so that they can find a replacement or whatever... Does that mean they are supposed to give me 2 weeks notice that I am going to be fired, or at least paid for 2 weeks after I am fired?

Doesnt seem fair that it would work one way and not the other.

(disclaimer: I didnt get fired or anything... at least not yet. Just thinking about it.)

check out what you signed when you got the job. Most likely it will say they can terminate you at any time for any reason or whatever.

Most companies won't give you any notice, however, severance package is customary, with a minimum of 2 weeks pay.

2 week notice is just for profesionalism, if you aren't looking for a reference from the company, you don't need to give a 2 week notice.

OTH, they do not have to give you any notice at all, they just have to pay you in cash, right away if they fire you.

Two weeks notice is simple courtesy. These days around here, very few seem to give the full two weeks, if they give any at all. Also depends on how you care to part ways with your employer.

its a small world. so I say go out on the high road. You never know where you might see your former associates again. give as much notice as you can. 2 weeks min, more if ou can do it. and work hard up to the last minute.
