Giving clothes to the Salvation Army

So I have all of these clothes that I haven't worn in years, and I want to give them to the Salvation Army as opposed to just throwing them out. I've never done this before, so I'm not quite sure exactly how it's done. Should I wash the clothes before I bring them, or will they do that anyways? They shouldn't be dirty, just been sitting in my closet for a few years.

Any help is appreciated.

They'll likely wash them (I imagine they're required to).

Just put 'em in a box and give it to them.

Just drop them off in a garbage bag. The Salvation Army will compress and bale the clothes. Then sell them to a textile recycling firm or a third world country.
