Given 2 otherwise identical hard drives, which would be faster?:

500 GB (7200rpm 2.5")
750 GB (7200rpm 2.5")

I guess what I'm asking is, which HDD has the higher platter density? Notice I'm not assuming an equal number of platters here. The 500 GB drive, I would imagine, could be 2x250 GB, where the 750 GB drive could be 3x250 GB (do 2.5" drives even have 3 platters?).

And another related question: you have 2 identical drives, but one has more platters. Does this make the drive less robust/durable?

Ok, here are two Western Digital drives. I can't find information on their platters (# or density):

WD5000BPKT
vs.
WD7500BPKT
