New Egg is having a 24 hour sale on the VSX-1024. Should I buy it. If you own this model, please tell me what you think of it as there are not too many reviews out there for this particular model.

Thanks for the help!

I have the VSX-819, which I've owned for a number of years. Older 5.1 model but part of the same line. Sounds great, has been very reliable. Pioneer AV gear is generally pretty rock solid. My only nitpicking thing about it is the on-screen menus don't work over HDMI for some reason. Only on the analogue outputs. I certainly hope that's been fixed in the newer models.

My slightly older Pioneer Elite has OSD stuff over HDMI. It looks like garbage, but it works.

Depends on what you want.

No Preouts so I would never purchase it.

It's mostly dependent on features you need as well as which auto calibration software you prefer.

With the new 4k stuff coming out and the inherent connection/input changes I wouldn't do it unless you really need a new receiver. There's a sale every year. A lot of them actually.
