I havn't played craps very seriously before but plan on doing so this time around. I know the basics more or less, but can anyone help explain how the odds bets work? Any pointers or tips will be appreciated as well!

talk to the dealers and ask questions...

how much you like to bet and how much you like to risk are all personal preferences.

have fun, if you win, know at what point you want to stop. (i guess that applies to if you lose too)

The higher the odds allowed, the better. Start by playing only the pass line and laying maximum odds. From there, you can move on to the come line bet. It's certainly the most boring way to play but it will let you keep your money for as long as possible. But you do need to start with a pretty large roll even at a $10 table if you are laying max odds.

Personally, I'd just play poker if you are pretty decent.

yeah, i'm actually a pretty heavy gambler. I am very good at poker and I can consistently place while playing smaller tournaments. The only problem with poker is you have to dedicate a good amount of time. When I usually play at vegas I end up winning a good amount in poker and then loosing it in blackjack. This time I feel like losing it in craps instead ....

The key to having fun at craps is to have a curly haired blonde in a really nice evening gown to blow on the dice. And to wear a tux.
