I am looking for some one experienced who can put together a kit list for a custom PC. Max this will take 2 - 3 hours of your time. Will PayPal the payment. Here the rules

1. I am looking for some one in US or Canada as we have to talk on phone
2. Must have pay pal account, if you live in MI (Ann Arbor) then I can pay you cash.
3. You should be experienced and the way I will know that is based on your post count and your past posts on this forum
4. You need be able to explain why you selected each part for me over the phone / skype.

I can do this but then need to spend 2 weeks trying to learn about Socket numbers, chip sets, what ever those 1.1.1.9 Ram speed setting etc etc ....and don't have the time.

I have found a local vendor who will build the PC for me but he is trying to sell me parts (what ever he has in the store) and I do not like that.

Post your email or PM me

Thanks

Jay

You shouldn't need to pay, just fill out the information asked for in the sticky and read the responses in this thread.

Unless you're trying to build a $500 PC (which wouldn't make sense for offering us $100) you'll want a socket 1155 (Sandy Bridge) CPU and P67 motherboard (or possibly Z68 if buying next month). For buyers of gaming systems in the $800+ range you'll want an i5 - 2500K quad core.

By the way, Cyberpower - http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ - can put together decent socket 1155 systems for you in the $1,000 range. I haven't used them myself since I build my own systems.

Please don't pay anyone to put it together for you. That's the best part! And honestly, building a system these days is as simple as plugging stuff in where it fits :)

I live 25 min from Ann Arbor, but I am not looking to get paid. Why don't you just post your requirements in this forum and we can talk it out?

Would be interested to see how complex your requirements are. There are quite a few knowledgeable people around here who would gladly help you for free. As stated above, please fill out the sticky and we'll do our best to help you out.

I live 1:30 from Ann Arbor, but I'm not looking for money either. Just post your requirements. I doubt anything needs complex research. We do everything from Scientific calculation to office builds.

Give me the $100 and pay my expenses (gas/food/couch to sleep on) and I can drive over there to build it for you, while teaching you at the same time. :p Would be a 6 hour drive for me.

Seriously though, we usually help people around here for free, and our answers are up for peer review.

I live about 20 miles away from Ann Arbor... pay me $500 and you got a deal. ;)

You know that's quality advice because it costs 5x more! :awe:

But seriously OP, just post your requirements here. I'll bet that taking the time to write your throughts out will help you crystallize them.

Thanks guys for all the advice. My biggest issue is finding a mother board that has the following functions

Socket 1155, For Intel 2600K

1 - 16x PCIe and 1 - 4x PCIe. Both need to work at those speeds, most MB when you put the 2nd PCIe the 16x becomes 8x.

MB should be compatible with RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD which goes into the x4 slot

6 Ram slots that can take 4GB module for total of 24 GB of Ram

Onboard USB 3.0, SATA-II, Audio, LAN

And over-clocking support for an idiot

You won't ever find an 1155 mobo with 6 RAM slots. That's not possible with the 1155 platform. The most RAM slots that you will find is 4. Which gives up to 16GB of RAM. If you need more RAM, you need to be looking at 1366, or a dual-CPU server board.

I should have taken the $100...

Seriously though, if you can wait, it sounds like you want Sandy Bridge -E that is releasing end of this year.

1155 DOES however support 8GB DIMMS for up to 32GB, but those are expensive, and you'll actually need a server motherboard, and possibly a xeon processor.

OP: Do you already have the parts you mentioned? (Especially the RAM and CPU). If you tell us exactly what your situation is and what you need the PC for, we can help you get a computer built for what you need.

I may be out to left field, but why does the PCI-E slot HAVE to run at 4x? Most when they say 8x will support "up to 8x"

It's the other slot that he apparently doesn't want to drop from 16x down to 8x.

Of course that might not matter if we knew what GPU will be used, but OP wants to keep as much of his requirements a secret as possible for some reason.

Yeah, it almost certainly won't matter. Though the real killer is his 6 DIMM requirement. Other than that, even something as simple as the GA-P67A-UD3 would work.

Maybe he's building a child porn box...

We really do need your requirements if you really want help OP. What parts do you have currently, and what are tasks for the computer?

z400 HP Workstations have 6 RAM Slots, as well as I believe 2 PCIe slots, however i'm not 100% on thier configuration and behavior under 2 card use. It would be worth researching, prebuilt from HP with a 3 yr standard warranty on the entire thing could be a good fit depending on his needs... which, we still dont really know yet.
