This week is reading week here (aka spring break), I'm thinking of getting aquanted with ASP.NET, but I can't think of anything good to make. Perhaps a small message board? I dunno.

some ideas would be appreciated....

yeah, that's why its called "reading week" and not spring break.
 
How about a chess/boardgame server? You could maybe use SMTP as the transport and the web app as the front end. As in person vs person server.
