Wait, why do you want depressing songs? I hope everything's cool with you, if not, I suggest you don't compile a bunch of despressing songs and make yourself feel worse, that ain't cool.

Funny, I've got a cat stevens mp3 of him singing cat's and the cradle.

Edit: Do a search in google, it seems to be his most popular MP3 out ther ;)

Yeah, well any jackass can rip Chapin singing it and call it the wrong name.
You got a link? FTP? Let me hear it.

LOL Don't you hate this kind of "proof?" Almost every MP3 I ever downloaded was misnamed, either title or artist.

Depressing songs....ok.

The Softies - Sleep Away Your Troubles
Trembling Blue Stars - Never Loved You More (though pretty much any of them will do for depressing)
Kind Of Like Spitting - All Else Failed (though, again, any of them will do)

If you need more, call me ;)

Lol. Most of this stuff is not depressing at all. Try Mogwai or Sigur Ros (The new albulm is great btw). I just realized that every bit of music I listen to is depressing. It's weird, I don't think I own a bit of upbeat music at all. Oh well. Also try Modest Mouse for some depressing songs in a good way.

Sure seems that way...
Well, Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin sound nothing alike, neither in voice, nor instrumentation. It would be a snap to tell if it was Cat Stevens or not.

Could be Chapin, I'm not claiming to be a know-it-all when it comes to Cat Steven's. One of my friends, though, is a huge fan of his, and he's the one who brought it over. I'll send it to you on monday, let you decide for yourself.

Its funny because Neil Young is or was Canadian, he actually was an illegal immegrant to the US back in the 60s. So I think it would be hard for him to be an American Indian, no even taking into account the fact that he is white.

Mustangrrl and squirrelman. I meant no offence I meant just that a lot of his songs are about Indians and the plight of the American Indian and it;s those songs which I find depressing.

Exit Music for A Film is on Kid A.

Nope, it's on OK Computer. Thinking of Motion Picture Soundtrack, maybe?

Whoops. You're right-my bad. All of a sudden I can't remember how Exit Music goes though for some reason.

AFI - Morningstar
Tiger Army - Under Saturns Shadow
Peter and Gordon - Go to Pieces
A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
Duncan Sheik - Barely Breathing
Third Eye Blind - Hows It Going to Be
Incubus - Aqueous Transmission

I dunno, it's quite the musical variety but they all do it for me.

Under Saturns Shadow for if you're just hating life, and Morningstar or 3 Libras if it's a girl...

give me some depressing songs

One of the most depressing I got - LAme-Stram-Gram by Mylene Farmer. Strange enough, songs in French always make me feel depressed.

Lou Read's Berlin, Most depressing Album Of 1973
  • Caroline Says 2

Caroline says - as she gets up off the floor
Why is it that you beat me - it isn't any fun

Caroline says - as she makes up her eyes
You ought to learn more about yourself - think more than just I

But she's not afraid to die
All her friends call her 'Alaska'
When she takes speed, they laugh and ask her
What is in her mind, what is in her mind

Caroline says - as she gets up from the floor
You can hit me all you want to, but I don't love you anymore
Caroline says - while biting her lip
Life is meant to be more than this - and this is a bum trip

But she's not afraid to die
All her friends call her 'Alaska'
When she takes speed, they laugh and ask her
What is in her mind, what is in her mind

She put her fist through the window pane
It was such a funny feeling

    It's so cold in Alaska...
What's the most depressing song you've heard? idNut 08/24/2002
