http://www23.tomshardware.com/storage.html to compare some of those you listed.

what is most important to you though? space? speed? warranty length? affordabiltity as in cost per gigabyte? are you keeping this purchase below a certain price? after looking through your lengthy list, its very difficult saying what to buy since i have no idea what prices your looking at for example. i would pick something that had a lot of space and only choose those 16MB cache. the drive i desire about a year from now or whenever the price is around 100 dollars is the WD5000YS, it has a warranty Length of Five years, 16MB cache, 7200rpm, etc. i havent bought it though. from what i understand with SATA, the speeds are down-compatible, so the sataII drives will work with sata I (1.5Gps). I never done it personally though.

If it were me, I'd take the Samsung because they're quieter & run at a cooler temperature.

I prefer Western Digital or Seagate brands and if this will be your main drive then go with a 16MB

If this drive will be used for basic file storage get the largest capacity and cheapest.

Seagate 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB SATA 3.0Gb/s ST3320620AS

Edit: For your reference I used all the brands more 10 times. HD price does not really matter.
