I live in Orange County.. once a while I will come up to Downtown LA to visit my girl because she goes to USC but most of time it's her that comes down to visit me because most of our friends are down in OC. Anyhow being unfamiliar to the area I decided to order pizza from pizza hut for pick ups because they only located like 4 blocks down on Temple St. in my 5 min adventure to pick up my pizza I must have avoided at least 5 potential collissions, pull to the side 2x because of ambulance/police car siren, got honked at 2x. I don't know how you people in LA does it. The signs are confusing, traffic is crazy, and here pederstrain don't have the right of way. If you have slow reflexes don't even bother to drive in LA

if you almost had 5 potential collisions, should you really be commending LA drivers? or were the near-accidents your fault?

i pray that you never have to go to the bay area. the drivers up there make drivers around here look good.

Look at the bright side,at least the really dumb drivers get killed trying to beat a Metrorail or pull out in traffic in front of a MTA bus.Thank goodness for heavy metal. One of the reasons I never venture into L.A. city. The number of morons is amazing. Not to mention 60% of them are uninsured.

Last two times I was in LA I have had to comment on how calm the drivers are. The drivers around Sacramento are f'ing nuts.

<< at least the really dumb drivers get killed trying to beat a Metrorail or pull out in traffic in front of a MTA bus. >>

funnie thing you mention about MTA bus 2 of my near collisions are because of the MTA bus. The MTA bus was stuck on the right side of the road behind a gas tanker truck so being a impatient driver the MTA bus decided to go to the left lane so before checking his blind spot he pulls to the left lane. Well.. guess who is on the left lane?? ME!! so I had to avoid the bus by going to the left lane. Only thing is that it's a 2 lane street so by avoiding the bus I put myself facing uncoming traffic where I had another near collision. Argh..

We think the exact opposite up here.

Funny how that works.

I live in LA and I thought the people in Manhattan and Boston are more aggressive.

Thanks, AnimeKnight. (I've driven in L.A. for 20 years so I'll take a compliment when ever and where ever one is given!) :)

i'm from the bay area but go to school at UCLA...i'm moving down again this sunday and brining a car down for the first time. Lemme say this...i'm scared $hitless to drive in LA.

For all you LA drivers that think it's worse up north...you see those blinking lights that's scaring ya? yeah...those are turn signals...we use 'em up here... no need to be afraid =) Maybe you visited here last year when the traffic did get worse because of the tech boom...literally there's a huge change from last year to this year...it used to be the high ways would be clogged like the 405 (or come as close as it can anyways), but now it's almost back to normal.

Oh yeah and another disparity i noticed, our carpool lanes are accessible anytime (single dotted white lines)...you guys have double striped yellows protecting 'em.

LOL ed i'm with ya there.

la has some wacko drivers. i find them to be very impatient. the last week i was in la i was coming back from KFC on wilshire near ralph's. it was crowded because it was noon and the light just turned green. the guy behind us started honking because we weren't moving fast enough for him. mind you we were about five cars behind the front car at the light.

i don't understand why LA is so scared of turn signals. but once you get a car down there and start driving around you will NEVER be the same. you are turned into the la agressive driver that weaves in and out like mad.

Hahaha if you think LA is bad (I drive in downtown all the time) give DC a try. They're alot worse. Plus you have to contend with all the crazy taxi drivers! ;)

-edit-
I'm one of those people that are scared of blinking lights. I try and zip by you on the blind side! hehehe. you guys that use those lights scare the crap out of me! I never know when you're gonna switch! sometimes it's 2 seconds, sometimes it's 10! Damnit! Just move already! :D
