Give away your guns for bus tickets!!

Only in Canada, the stupidest idea I have ever seen.

Halifax approves Fares for Firearms program

Bus tickets for guns not enough of an incentive, criminal lawyer says

One of the comments on the article:

"Oh Yeah! The ones that have the guns that we need off the streets are going to turn them in...change their lives around...and get bus tickets so they can go get a job.WOW!!!
This whole program is just sad...really sad. What makes it the most sad (not sure if that's proper grammar) is the fact that I am not at all surprised that this is what HRM came up with.
CRAP....my bus is late again!!!!"

Liberals are back, they're trying hard.

Maybe i've been out of the loop, but how are the Liberals trying to get rid of guns? I'm fine with the laws the way they are and it's not like we have a problem here with guns.

Gun buybacks are always a fucking joke, just on economics alone. These pop up in America, too, and they aren't any less stupid than the Canadian version.

Even 50 of the most expensive Halifax tickets for an adult don't crack $175 (the article says $100). Buying a brand-new Hi-Point pistol just to turn it in for this buyback at 50% resale would barely break even.

I see two Luger P08s in the picture on both articles, which are German pistols dating as far back as pre-WWI. Even in bad condition (which I doubt they are) those would net far more money from an interested collector than this buyback. I've seen five-figure quotes for those pistols if the history is there.
