Hold the knee-jerks please.

So her Facebook.com (never used it) entry had her as part of Obama's group or something, and people are jumping on it claiming she doesn't support her father for president. She has not been interviewed regarding this.

As to newsworthiness, if she did support Obama, I think it would only be interesting in that it seems most politicians have their children's support. I happen to have different political beliefs than my parents, and while I would not state anything negative about them if they ran for president, I don't think I'd publicly support an opposing candidate either simply because I know it would be abused for propaganda purposes.

Our children are not supposed to be clones of us, and if she has different views, so be it. I think any attempt by opponents to utilize this scenario will have serious public relations backlash and leave voters with a bad taste. So naturally someone's going to try it.

I am not surprised. From all accounts, Rudi is an arse. He only has the image he does because he has done everything he could to make himself seem like a hero after 9/11, when, in fact, he only just jumped in front of the crowd. He has nothing of worth for the Presidency and is a faux hero.

I don't think it is fair to judge politicians or public figures by the behaviors of their children, even if that is a gauge of their parenting skills.

Look at Gore's son...now there is a winner if ever there was one...he recently got picked up for speeding, a DUI and drug possession.

The apple often falls far from the tree.

I figure if a guy can have three wives he can switch loyalties and secretly be working for the Russians or even Osama. Geez, I heed somebody with family values and character. One smart girl he has there.

It is stupid to judge a politician by his child's behavior. All it can say is they may or may not be a good parent. But what does that say about leadership or policy viewpoints?

Reagan's son was pretty much 100% opposite from him on the political spectrum. But you aren't judging Reagan by his son are you?

George Bush Sr. was a fairly good president, but Bush Jr. is awful.

Gore's son was mentioned above.

Cheney's daughter is a lesbian, etc.

The examples go on and on.

If ever there was a child to reject the family values of Rudy, Rudy's daughter is the one to listen to. And lets not forget Rudy's wife either. There is a difference between image and substance.

Which wife? ;)

I kid. I could care less if he's divorced four times, has illegitimate children (as long as he supports them), or has affairs. The right trots out the family values thing so much that one of the major points discussed about Rudy is if he appeal to "value" voters, and they aint talking bout blue staters when they say that.

Meanwhile, lots of absurdly vocal Bill Clinton basher and pro-impeacher has since been found out to be a cheater, some with hookers, some while calling for impeachment. The left can deal with a president who isn't saintlike in his personal life. To require otherwise is hypocritical.

Rudy's not my guy for other reasons, but compared to his fellow rep contenders, I wouldn't totally flip out if he won.

so, is her mother the one that her father publicly divorced during a press conference?

if so, I sure as shit wouldn't support him either if he was my pop.

From what i read she is 17 years old. 17 year olds don't always make the best decisions and tend to be a bit rebellious to parental figures. I was there once, and to tell the truth, I would've been considered quite liberal.
