Giuliani On Russian Collusion: So What? It’s Not Illegal

WASHINGTON ― His client insists there was “NO COLLUSION” with Russia to win the presidency, but Donald Trump’s lead lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has a new theory of the case: What’s the big deal if he did?

In a recent interview with HuffPost, Giuliani initially disputed the notion that Trump’s daily citing, in the final month of his campaign, of Russian-aligned WikiLeaks and its release of Russian-stolen emails constituted “colluding” with Russia.

“It is not,” Giuliani said.

Then he switched tacks.

“OK, and if it is, it isn’t illegal... It was sort of like a gift,” he said. “And you’re not involved in the illegality of getting it.”

So new tactic, if there WAS collusion then it wasn't illegal. They were gifted the Russian help.

I agree I don’t know that the truth actually matters at this point nor do I’ve expect to get it. We’re being fed political theatrics to keep the democracy together. You think they’ll actually come out and say that Russia won the election? No way, I don’t think the real powers that be on either side would allow it.

I think the issue of collusion hinges on what the Trump campaign knew in advance of the wikileaks release. If they had advance knowledge, that's collusion. If not then they were just being their usual opportunistic bottom feeder selves.
