Girls are dumb. Also, cars need oil sometimes.

So the ex calls me about her '99 jetta, formerly my car. Says it's making funny noises, so I told her to take it to the mechanic. After thinking about it a bit I called her back and reminded her it burns oil and to check it, like I've told her a half dozen times or so previously. She calls back and said it was low and that it took 4 1/2 quarts of oil to bring it back to full.

Stupid chick was driving the car around without oil, no wonder it was making noises! :D

I qualified it to a painful degree and made her drive to kragen and get a lesson on how to read a dipstick.

That was my first thought too. Does she realize to check the 'lo' and 'hi' marks on the dipstick, or did she just keep pouring in oil until it overflowed?

That's how I do it. Anyone have a good deal on corn oil? It's so much more reasonably priced than "motor" oil and it looks almost the same.

Bah, save your money and just take a leak in the filler hole when you're running low.

You need some seriously good aim tho. :D

no, no, no. you need to do what Al Bundy did. remember when he got that Stridex pad and ran it across Bud's forehead.....then squeezed the oil into the hole?

My guess is somewhere around 4 quarts. She probably spilled some without a funnel so 4 quarts probably made it in.

Ok, I'm dumb. Well, was dumb. I didn't know about oil changes and stuff until my mom gave me her truck, and to my knowledge, I only went to have it serviced twice... In the two years that I drove the SUV.

Needless to say, I've learned my lesson and now have my own car regularly oil-changed and all that jazz. :)

/me is not dumb girl anymore?

My mom said she never knew cars needed their oil changed until she married my dad (she was about 25). Must be on the Y chromosome.

I think the "opening jars" and "driving ability" genes are hiding on there too.

LMAO!! :D

One of my ex-GFs honestly thought that when the oil light came on, that meant it was time to change the oil.

I'm dead serious; she thought it was a "change the oil reminder light." <--her words. :Q

When I met her, she was driving this POS Mercury Topaz (old Ford Taurus clone). I was hanging at her place one weekend and I said "let's go get some grub." She said "I'll drive." Cool.

As soon as she pulled into the street the Oil light came on. Me, being a mechanically inclined guy, panicked and freaked out. I alerted her as to her impending motor seizure.

Her response?

Oh, you mean the "time to change the oil reminder light?" That's been coming on for weeks now; I've been too busy to take it to Jiffy Lube!!!! I'll try to get to it soon!"

She was not kidding.

I about fainted.

LOL, but if your low on oil then you probably should be changing your oil anyways unless your car is leaking or something.
