She's cancelling the check card right now, but does anyone have any advice for what to do about the fact that there's a decent chance her social security number has been stolen? I'm assuming one of those credit monitoring places would be the best bet? I really have no idea - I don't know why you'd ever carry your SS card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just put a credit flag out, requires you to go through extra hoops in order to get a credit card.

Also one of those fraud monitoring programs for at least a couple months.

Wow, she carries her SS# card with her? That's the problem right there. It would be too easy to steal her identity.

You aren't supposed to carry your SS card in your wallet. Why did she think that was a good idea?

She's a 20 year old girl?

Don't ask me. She's done the fraud alert thing. Sounds like that should prevent 99% of bad things possible.

In the future I'm sure she won't. I know she needed it in the beginning of the year and probably forgot to take it out..or..*shrug*

i doubt many people actually do, i really doubt its a common thing to have in ur wallet. its not like other countries where people gotta carry their national id with them.
