When I was recently shopping for one, it came down to the WEGA and the JVC F series. I looked at both side by side at two different locations and went with the JVC. I have been extremely happy with my choice...especially since I dumped cable for Direct TV.

:)

JVC F802

Edit:

I actually went with the F713 since I had no need for PIP and I wanted a black cabinet..

IMO, the picture is superior to the non HDTV WEGA's...especially with the Theater Pro color mode..

Colors though bright seemed sorta un-natural. Me personally bought the Panasonic since that was the only one which would fit in my entertainment set. Else I would have bought the JVC.

My Panasonic CT-27SX12

I have a JVS 27 inch and I just love it.[/quote]

Cool. JVC certainly has better natural color interpretation than Sony. Sony while being bright and over-hyped and all itsn't quite necessarily the best in picture quality IMO.

Yeah. A friend of mine just picked up a 36" WEGA, and while the thing is freakin huge and has a very nice picture, it really has a inferior picture to my JVC. I am not saying the Sony has a bad picture, it is beautiful, the JVC just seems to reproduce colors better.

I've got the Wega FS200 (got it open box for $420 @circut city BTW) and I can say I am very happy with it. And as far as the 16:9 compression I've used it and I don't really care for it. It makes the screen too small. It does look sharp tho.

Yes...all of their models do.. For some reason they don't list it as a feature, but mine has it and it is in all their manuals. It uses the full 700+ lines of resolution on the picture and doesn't waste them on the black bar area.

Ive been hearing great things about the JVC but unfortunately have not seen any in the local best buy, circuit city, sears, etc... I delayed getting the TV till tuesday..I hope I can find a JVC to look at and compare somewhere soon.

For some reason, Best Buy only seems to carry the lower end, non-flat models. I know when I bought mine, Circuit City had them... I actually got mine online since I found a great deal for under $500, with free shipping.

Edit:

Not that you would want to buy it online from them, although $20 for delivery isn't too bad, but Crutchfield's product page has a better description than JVC's site including pictures of the inputs and such.
