girl sings anthem clip

uh.. that's not an official that's the portland jailblazer's coach. And that was last year IIRC.
it was the one bright spot in portland's season.

Her voice started sounding really great at one point, but she lost the rich timbre rather quickly.

Real nice of him, though. 🙂

Yeah, happened last year..

It was great.

And all you guys ragging on the blazers.. whatever, they're just normal people like you and I.

Shes got a great vibrato in her voice...but I bet her nervousness has a lot to do with it. Good voice over all. Not too much chest voice or strain from what I could tell. Good head voice. I used to be in HS choir so I know all the things to look for in a good singer.

Guy in the suit is terrible.

Oh, I thought they were professional basketball players paid millions of dollars a year.

Her vocal quality was actually pretty natural. Went atrociously flat, though.

A girl about her age sang at the Duke vs. Tennessee girls game on Saturday. This girl, on every one of the three note ascending lines (e.g. "dawns early light," "flag was still there") the second to last note was a half step sharp every time. I think she sang the natural instead of the flat all three times (forget where the third was). Anyway, drove me nuts. That, and she tried to pop-ify it a la Carl Lewis. Better than Carl, though.

I would have sh|t myself if that were me. No offense to anyone but those sailors (or whoever were holding the flag) were probably offended that she couldn't even remember the nation's anthem.

Dude come on... I forgot the words to Away in a manger once during a performance... being in front of people will do that crap to you man... stuff you KNOW, you can't recall, just like if a professor in class calls on you for an answer and it surprises you, your mind goes blank.

agreed.

I remember that - that was one of the coolest thing I've ever seen. That was really nice of the coach to help her out. 99 out of 100 people would just stand there in shock.

I understand being nervous but that girl practiced, and should have known the words (I'm sure she does). It's just the fact that we hear this song ever since we are born, and for those people in the armed force holding the flag, it must have been slightly offending that the girl forgot the country's song that they fight for. I do agree that what the coach did was very upstanding, but I still stand by what I originally said.
