I was hired at the same time as Brandy, we were in the same group together. She and I used to climb together a few years ago before she got engaged to Sparks, who I knew also. Pretty strange to lose somebody I knew well in an accident like this, one that I have responded to many times in the past.

A head-on collision near Searchlight killed a Las Vegas firefighter and his fiancee Friday afternoon as they rode motorcycles to the Laughlin River Run, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Kevin Sparks, 38, and his 26-year-old fiancee, Las Vegas paramedic Brandy Cherry, were found dead near their smashed motorcycles when authorities arrived at the 1:43 p.m. accident. A third motorist critically injured in the U.S. Highway 95 accident was breathing only with the aid of life support machines late Friday, authorities said.
Investigators believe the fatal crash about 15 miles north of Searchlight was caused by a woman who fell asleep at the wheel and drifted into oncoming traffic, trooper Alan Davidson said.
