Normal for Florida.

You have to dig out the ground to fill in marsh land leaving the water holes all around.

This pond should be barricaded in some way obviously, lawsuit time.

That's exactly what the article says.....

" Patel had hit the accelerator instead of the brake when parking her car near the pond on the north side of the plant off U.S. 1. ?She panicked,? Venema said."

Uhh wrong.

That is a retention ponds, most of the year it is probably empty - they are for water run off during our storm/rain season. They are required by law to prevent flooding.

No, he doesn't come to the plant very often, when the hurricanes came through they put
his porche (sp) and lambrogini from "cannonball run" up in the warehouse as his house
is directly on the ocean.

Had to watch it twice to even notice the car go into the pond. I love how a minute or so later a van just casually parks into the vacant spot.

Yeah but places taht use common sense have them outside the actual parking area. We have huge retention ponds at the last big place I worked but there were on the outside of the parking lot and were huge. No way you'd ever drive into one.

The pond is across the street from the main building. Run off is directed to the north east corner and then just goes under the street into a big ol' pond. We even see people trying to fish in it every so often not realizing that there's no fish there.

I worked at another warehouse that had it arranged like that, the pond was well away
from the parking area. At HT they were space-limited, behind the plant lies East-coast RR tracks, to the north is a public road so that's were the pond went. These kind of "mistaking
the pedals" accidents are common in FL, usually they involve an elderly person slamming
into a retail store..
