girl at wendys didn't give me my change

QueBert

Lifer
I gave her a $20 and was supposed to get $10.58 back, reaching in my pocket while I was eating I noticed I didn't have any change at all. So digging around I noticed I also didn't have a $10 either. So I went and spoke to the manager who was polite, and the girl she said "yeah now that I think about it, I didn't give him his change back" So the manager took her drawer and went to his office to count it to make sure. He came back and I could hear him off in the distance tell her "your register isn't over, you did give him his change." She insisted she didn't, so a few minutes later he came over to my table and gave me the money and apologized. Since he said her drawer was right she could have easily lied or just agreed with him. I know she's not going to get fired, or even have to pay it back herself. I never expect much out of people who work shitty minimum wage jobs, but it was nice she was so honest. Dunno if I would have gotten the 10 back otherwise. for good people. Thanks to her I'll be going back tomorrow and get a Baconater Combo.

UMMM BACON!

Rare to see someone that nice, especially in a fast food place (usually not great places to work at). I'm going to Wendy's right now.

I like their salads and chili.

She pocketed it. But she was probably hot. Which explains everything😛

A question I cannot answer, possibly the manager doesn't know how to to count, I have worked retail and made mistakes. Hell maybe she gave the person after me my change too by mistake lol.

All for you? Damn.

I brought a burger and the Frosty home for dinner. I still ate a lot, but not all of it.

10 to 1 she pocketed it herself, hence the true drawer.

Possibly, but they have cameras I'm sure, and if she had stolen it she could have just told her boss she did give me change when her drawer came up right. Seems like a person who would steal from the drawer wouldn't care if I get the money back or not.

Or maybe she's a thief with some sort of a conscience I dunno lol.

More than likely the manager snagged the overage. Underpaid going nowhere managers in fast food joints ripoff the till far more often than the counter people. My Brother in law has been a general manager and a district manager for a large fast food chain for many years and says that in well over half of all the theft cases where he has had to terminate someone there has been a manager at the bottom of it.

If she pocketed it, then it doesn't make sense for her to admit she didn't give him change since if the drawer is correct then it would make the manager suspicious of the missing amount = to the price of the OPs meal. If she said she doesn't remember if she gave the OP change that would be the end of it.
