Hmmm, so on the one hand, he's pushing for the impeachment of Clinton for having his knob polished. On the other hand, he's drilling for oil on another man's land. Tsk, Tsk.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.

"The honest answer is yes," Gingrich, a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, said in an interview with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson to be aired Friday, according to a transcript provided to The Associated Press. "There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards."

Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity.
Bravo Newt, Bravo.

Most of America knew Reps were a bunch of hypocrites and never supported the impeachment, at least the Senate still had the wits about them to acquit him.

Putting on my Republican thinking cap I would have to say that somebody obviously wanted more money to keep quiet about this during Gingrich's Presidential campaign than he could afford to pay.

The impeachment was not about the sex, get that through your thick head already.

It was about Clinton lying under oath... the same charges the Libby was just tried for in fact... hmmmmm

umm You need to get your head out of Limbaugh's ass. Why was he asked questions like that while under oath? Questions about SEX, not security matters.

I'll tell you why. It was to embarass a popular DEM President as revenge for Watergate. Him lying was thwarted the GOP's plan to embarrass him. So they went after the impeachment. The GOP broke a golden rule in D.C., and that was not to tattle tale about what so many of them do. They did it, because they were so sick of his popularity.

And THAT is the truth.

______________
Clinton was held in contempt of court for perjury! He was impeached. He lost his license to practice law and received a $90 thousand fine. He and Mrs. Clinton are guilty of the same "memory problem" as Scooter Libby.

Watergate? What? From 20 years earlier?

He lied about sex... in a sexual harrassment suit. What else could he lie about? The lawyers were attempting to establish a history of Bill "taking advantage" of his office in similar ways to how the accuser, Paula Jones, described her encounter with Bill. It's a standard legal practice.

Clinton could multitask at least....hmmmmmmm?? OH YA!! Sex and national security are the same!:p

Why bring Libby into a Gingrich sex scandal? Try to practice what you preach for once!

This was pretty much common knowledge back during the day. LOTS of people commented on what a fvcking hypocrite Gingrich was, having an extra-marital affair, with his 2nd wife, while busting Clinton's balls over a BJ...almost as sleazy as Rudy G, informing his wife that he wanted a divorce during a press conference...
Yep, the party of "Family Values" all right...

He lied about sex in a sexual harrassment lawsuit... Like I said earlier, what else is there to lie about? Perjury is perjury.

Hmmm.... To get back on topic...

I think that over the next couple of months the serious candidates (from both parties) will have stories like this slowly leaked out on purpose... one by one. All the embarrassing crap that can derail a campaign in the last minute will be aired out months... YEARS in advance, thus getting them out of the way early and preventing their use later on the campaign. These guys aren't dumb. If there is a skeleton in the closet it will be found by the press... or somebody. Better to be in control of the way it's released to the public.

I've made the same comments in the thread about Obama's financial dealings AND in the thread about his cocaine use. I think he's doing it on purpose and it's very smart.

Just watch. Hillary might be the only one to stonewall since that's what got her this far. But I bet that as the field narrows in the next few months and the major candidates (re: guys with a real shot at their party's nom) start rising to the top, you'll see more of this.

Hmmm....was Newt doing this in the Oval Office while president and lied on national television to the entire country, not to mention under oath? Of course adultery is wrong, but this is hardly the same.

Where is their religion now? If he wins the nomination will it mean he's forgiven, or will it just be more hypocracy? It's true the impeachment was not about sex, but the attack that led to it was.

HAHAHA "split hairs" much?

"Of course adultery is wrong, but this is hardly the same." It is exactly the same. They both did it. Bill just did it in the oval office, Newt probably got his in some congressional chamber...big deal.

If I thought he'd be a good President none of this would matter to me. Hell I bet the best CEO's and Leaders in the World are adulterers, it comes with the territory.

Oh geez. This is too easy. The whole "Contract on America" thing was nothing but lies and those lies hurt a lot more.

I love how you moonbats always try to twist the issue.

He wasn't being prosecuted for having his knob polished, he was being prosecuted for lieing to a grand jury, encouraging another to do the same, and got caught doing it.

now, if this wasn't true then why did he lose his ability to practice law? He later admitted to lieing.

Lieing to a grand jury is wrong regardless about what it was about.

But then again since when did the same standards apply to all people in moonbat world? Must be the moon juice? Or is that parrots cannot think on their own, all that <SQUAWK> noises I hear from you gets to be annoying

Hurt who? 1990s was pretty peaceful and we saw great economic expansion.

Sheesh - this is a drop in the bucket. Newt served his first wife with divorce paperwork while she was lying in a hospital bed, being treated for cancer, and later tried to take away her life insurance. He told his children that their mommy wasn't young or pretty enough to be First Lady. He told his second wife over the phone that he had had a four-year affair with a Congressional staffer 23 years his junior (the same one he has now admitted to) and wanted a divorce. This is not a great man.
