Now I gotta wait for the next round of android tablets to come out, I've wanted one for a little while now

I'm sure they will be much better when running an OS with some tablet optimizations/modifications
 
This could potentially mean the multicore phones are close to launch.

For obvious reasons, everyone is interested in getting new products out by December.
 
As long as I can replace my evo by next June (july?) with the A9 and 4.3" ish screen. Hopefully by then well have a 720p screen and the movie player supports avi and mkv files so i dont have to convert files.
 
goddamn google for letting htc/motorola use damn custom skins...imho they should force them to make their phones stock android compatible instead of ramming blue/sense down our throats... now we have to wait who knows how long for moto/htc to update to ginger

Custom skins are fine to me because stock Android is so slow and feature lacking. Bad keyboard, lack of a good copy paste system (thank goodness for HTC sense), slow launcher (HTC Sense wins again), etc.

I'm all for customization. I wouldn't be against locking it down if they deploy a good OS with a good UI.

Actually, Android works just fine for me. Keyboard is moot since I use swype. Copy/paste is lacking but it hasn't really caused too much of an issue for me. Customization is superb and the MiUI rom is smooth on my N1. I have no complaints at all.

MIUI is great. But like I said, the stock launchers aren't really suitable. The keyboard lacks multitouch. What HTC and Moto have done really do improve on the OS. If Android came out a bit more polished, then we wouldn't have to rely on all this customization.

Customization is great too, but I think a lot of android requires customization to run well. Take the Droid 1. People thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. It might have been true, but I think the hype was that it was just the first seriou Android phone to hit the US on VZW too. Finally a challenger to the iPhone. However, 550mhz was just too slow. Thank goodness for unlocked bootloader and custom ROMs that took it to a new level. The out of the box experience was just mediocre to me.

You pointed out MIUI and Swype, but the point remains that out of the box, Android is a bit unpolished. If the stock launcher is nice enough and the keyboard is great, then people could hav ea valid point about HTC and Moto adding bloatware. However, as it stands I see SenseUI as being beneficial while MotoBlur is a bit meh. The multitouch keyboard they made is good though.
 
HTC's actually been really good about getting OS updates rolled out in a timely fashion. Much better than any of the other manufacturers, especially Samsung. I just hope Unrevoked comes out quickly for it.
