REDWOOD CITY, Calif. ? A 10-year-old boy was sent to juvenile hall after holding a foam pellet gun to a classmate's head and robbing him of his Pokemon trading cards.

No one was injured in Thursday's incident.

The fourth-grader brought an Airsoft gun to Roosevelt Elementary School and held it to a 6-year-old's forehead, demanding that the younger child give up the trading cards, Redwood City police said.

The fourth-grader has been suspended, school officials are considering whether to expel him.

And I thought I was obsessed with those things back in the day...

I thought the pokemon craze died out a while ago. Guess not.

The title makes it sound like it was an overreaction by the school, but those airsoft guns hurt....

I didn't think Airsoft guns shoot foam pellets? I thought they were plastic BBs? or another case of a news agency having no idea what they are talking about? I haven't played Airsoft but I hear the BBs can hurt, especially if shot up close.

Did the younger boy think it was a real gun or what? Most Airsoft guns are made to look real. If it was actually a foam shooting gun, like Nerf, wtf??????????

That, and it's hard to tell the difference between an airsoft gun and a real gun without looking at the barrel.

It's a real shame schools aren't allowed to use corporal punishment any more.
Chances are, this bully would have learned his lesson the first or second time he got caught after getting his ass whooped. Then it probably wouldn't have escalated to this. Frickin pussy society.

They banned Pokemon cards at my elementary/jr high school. This was during the height of it. Apparently the less fortunate kids were complaining about it. They never banned Magic cards though.

Yea, when I read "foam gun" I thought the gun was literally a piece of foam that neither looked or acted at all like a real gun.

I also thought they meant a NERF gun. Who says kids don't learn anything from watching television?

This reminds me of the article a month or two ago where the kids stole the guy's dog and held it for ransom. Guess they figured it was easier than getting some sort of job to earn money. I don't think the dog was ever found. :(

Not that I heard. Didn't realize it was ever made into a thread here. I did a search on Google News, but it doesn't go back far enough. There are also more dogs kidnapped than I realized, I guess the others don't make it onto the news because they weren't held for ransom. Instead, we get weird and crazy crap like this.

if he wants he can buy all my old cards off me
I should gather them all up, list them all individually, and see what I can get for them on eBay
probably $10 since they are all pretty much from the first trading set released (yea, I picked up on this when it was new.. 4th and 5th grade. 6th grade I fell out of it). Now that they've released like.. what, 10, 15? different trading sets, I doubt the old ones are worth much. I do have some First Ed. cards though, but a lot of those are foreign, like French or German or Japanese.

You would have no problem running over a kid who took your dog and held him for ransom ? I know I would want to do the same thing but I not sure if I could actually do it. Rather help the person while they are in prison for a while.
