Gimme your opinion on this memory decision....

I'm sick of running my two 256's in tandem using their crappy Mosel Vitelic chips that won't me achieve 2-5-2 memory settings even @ 133fsb, definately not the 144fsb I use, So i've went on a search for GOOD overclockable DDR and to make it even harder, I want it in a 512mb stick that delivers CAS2 performance.

What I found was a 512mb PC2400 Corsair XMS module priced @ 189$ +6$s/h from newegg.com, haven't found but one review yet but it claimed the memory was capable of 162mhz FSB @ CAS2, can anyone verify that or suggest better ram with the specs i'm looking for?

I know the new Kingmax stuff is great but I can't seem to find a pc2700 512mb CAS2 module of it (if one exists)

Time to throw this pc2100 in the dumpster

maybe check mushkin too... i dunno if they got 512 or not. i'm goin with corsair xms myself.

but, d00d, why the 512 stick? just get 2 256s. arent they supposed to be faster anyway cuz theyre smaller? thats what i understood...

I know, but if I stick with larger modules I can run a gig in 2 slots, rather than attempting to populate more than 2 sockets and HOPING everything goes smoothly with unregistered non-ecc modules

right.. but do you really need a gig? seems kinda overkill to me. i'd rather have the speed of 256mb modules. of course, the kr7a is supposed to run fine with >2 unregistered non-ecc ram sticks, or so i've heard.
