Gillette Mach III or Schick FX Diamond Razor

Ok, I've been using the Tracer FX for a couple of years now. Its time to get a new razor. What should I go with, the Gillette Mach III or the Schick FX Diamond Razor? Do 3 blade razor blades work better than the 2 blade ones? Also, does anyone know what the difference between the Mach III and Mach III turbo is? Suggestions for razors other than these two would also be good. My beard is not very tough, and I shave once a few days - not because of slow hair growth on the face, but because I'm lazy.

I don't like electric razors, so it has to be a regular razor.

Mach III user here. I got it for free and have used it since so I have never actually used a different razor.

I've been using the Mach III for a few years now - pretty good razor IMO. I don't know much about it, only that I like it and I hardly ever cut myself.

Mach III is the best razor i have used , and i think alot of people agree
which seems to be why the replacement blades are expensive as hell
unless you go to sams and buy them in bulk.

<< Mach III Turbo? WTF is that? I got a a Mach III and won't use anything else. >>

The new Mach III.

I've been shaving my head with it since Saturday, I like it pretty much the same as the Mach 3. Maybe a little more comfortable, I dunno.

Works very well one way or another.

I saw a Mach III Turbo KIT once... It was a razor (with a razor cartridge) and 6 additional cartridges.

I've used both and the Mach III is by far the best....the only thing I don't like about it is the expense of the replacement blades. I recently bought a ton of blades for the Diamond FX at $1 each at one of the Big Kmarts that is closing down here. Needless to say I will be using the FX for quite a qhile now.....I counted and if I change my blade once a week, as I normally do, then I have enough blades for nearly 2 years.....

Mach III. Refills are expensive, but I don't change the blade that often. Does anyone know if those new Mach III TURBO TYPE R blades work on the old Mach III razor handle thing?

mach 3 here... however, ever since i started using them last year in August, i have not change the blades yet... i only shave once every two days.
people told me i need to change them after the blue thingy goes away..but it's still there... and i have never cut myself once... so i guess i'm still good. (did get a pack of blade from sams.... at this rate, i'll be shaving forever)

I can get a few more "comfortable" shaves with a 3 blade razor than with a 2 blade razor.

I like the first shave with a Mach 3, it's like butter.

I've always used a Mach III since Gillette sent me one for my 18th b-day, and since I'm Asian, I shave maybe once every three weeks. pretty nice IMO.
Pepsei: I thought the blue thingy was a moisturizer. Don't see how'd that affect your shaving since the blades are probably still good, but I dunno, I'm a shaving newb :)

Another Mach III automaton right here. Definitely the best razor I've ever used, although I did like my Sensor Excel before that. For a fixed-head razor it was very smooth, but I was only shaving about once every 3 days then and now that I shave everyday I need something less prone to nick me. And now even my wife uses a Mach III for her legs (naturally she has her own.) It makes it great when we buy refills though since we only need one kind of razor now.

If I'm remembering correctly, the blue stripe never goes completely away except that the middle part fades. I could be wrong though (it's amazing I can't remember what something looks like that I use every day.)

The blue color fades away but the strip stays there. I can still shave when the strip is faded, but it is a lot more rough.

The new Mach 3 Turbo is about 10 bucks. Four replacement heads also cost 10 bucks. :|

i bought a MachIII a couple of years ago b/c i liked those stupid commercials where the jet pilot hits mach III and his plane disintegrates, his clothes fly off, and he end up in front of the bathroom sink looking at himself.

hahahahaha still cracks me up...

anyways, its a good razor, I have a tough beard and it works well. Blades are a little pricey though.

That's what I was thinking. I just shave with mine until it feels rough and really don't look at the strip all that much. I guess I proabably get about 2 weeks per blade. I personally find the first shave right after a blade change to be the time you're most likely to nick yourself though since it's still razor sharp and my shaving habits may have become a bit "lazy" with a duller blade.
