so if i have a gigibit card in my pc and my laptop and a gigibit switch using remote desktop to access the pc so i can have duel screen on my lappy.... and the gigibit switch is connected to a router that is connected to the lan that is running at a slow 10 mb. is the pc and laptop going to use gigibit?
also please recomend me a good gigibit switch. thanks!
 
The PC and laptop will use gigabit speed, but given the absurd performance of laptop HD's it's kind of meaningless.

Netgear makes some solid, budget, gigabit switches.
