I always knew there was something "funny" going on at those no-kill animal shelters. Thirteen armed agents with aerial recon support declared the law must be followed! Giggles the baby deer must not be allowed to be in captivity!

"Could you have made a phone call before showing up, I mean, that's a lot of resources," WISN 12 News investigative reporter Colleen Henry asked.

"If a sheriff's department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don't call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana or whatever drug that they have before they show up," Niemeyer (DNR supervisor) said

"I was thinking in my mind they were going to take the deer and take it to a wildlife shelter, and here they come carrying the baby deer over their shoulder. She was in a body bag," Schulze (shelter employee) said. "I said, 'Why did you do that?' He said, 'That's our policy,' and I said, 'That's one hell of a policy.'"

What kind of commentary can be added? Government thugs on a power trip.

There are already two threads on this story, one here in P&N, one in OT.

It wasn't hard poking holes into the WDNR's 'Chronic Wasting Syndrome' excuse using their own data and 2013 response procedures manual. And yeah, I would be surprised if the WDNR has any remaining defenders.

Wisconsin, SWAT Team used to kill baby deer. seriously WTF????

I'm sure at the end of the day, when the "SWAT" team met at the local pub, the animal by then was a crazy and rabid 600 pound moose with sharpened steel antlers.

Obviously the staff is friendly with the animal and could have put in a portable cage, but that would have not have been as much for the Delta Force wannabes.

And I am all for a controlled hunt on deer.
