I did that with my kids when they were little. A coworker lived a couple doors away. He noted that my kids had long since gone inside & I was still outside making huge bubbles. The ones that lasted would drift a considerable distance before popping against some car or building, leaving a slimy looking ring behind.

To make huge bubbles, you need the proper mixture of water, soap, and glycerine. To make a "bubble wand" - a long piece of material in a loop & a couple of wooden dowels; one to raise it up, the 2nd to open it into a loop.
