Is it possible to use only the Intel HD 4000 for when I'm clicking around in the desktop, thus keeping my GTX 460 soley for gaming? I would be running dual monitors, one is HDMI and one is VGA. I did a quick Google search and I have not found anything yet so I was wondering whether or not this is possible. Do I have to connect the HDMI to the Intel HD 4000 HDMI output?

Impossible? I just put my system together and have the IGP in use right now and not my GPU.

I haven't tried it yet, but that mobo (I have one) is supposed to support what you are talking about, it's called "Lucidlogix VIRTU MVP ."

yeah download the latest Lucid MVP drivers here:

http://lucidlogix.com/driverdownloads-mvp.shtml

For what you are looking for you would use I-mode, and connect your monitor to the IGP port on your motherboard. Then Virtu will basically transfer the frame buffer output from your GTX 460 and send it to the output of the IGP.

The game must be supported by the software for this to work (there's a list on the Lucid site), and you will see about a 10% (I think, look for benchmarks) performance hit. There's also a few other features that MVP adds liek a special v-sync.

If you try it out, let us know how it works.

My motherboard has a setting in uEFI to set 1st device as PEG which I use. Below that there is a setting something like enable iGPU multi monitor support which is disabled. Look and see if yours is disabled by default also. Windows doesnt detect my iGPU at all this way.

Right but this would be if you just wanted to use the IGP to run a secondary monitor and still have the dedicated GPU running all of the time for the main monitor.

You're right though that he will have to make sure that that BIOS setting is enabled and the Intel graphics driver is installed in order to Lucid Virtu, otherwise Virtu won't be able to see the IGP at all.

I thought the one from the Gigabyte site was free to use on their motherboards. I'll have to check that.

If you want to change the title of a thread you just need to edit the original post. Click edit then on the lower right of the box click on go advanced. Once in advanced mode you'll have the option to edit the title also.

The software was included with your motherboard it looks like to me. If you don't have the disc then you can find it here.

There is a link to a pdf with instructions there also.

I did edit the title but it didn't work. See OP... Weird.

Oh it's under Utility. No wonder lol. I never check that... Whoops. Thanks!

Just took a look. That user manual is pretty bad haha. But it seems that I need to connect two HDMI cables to the HD 4000 HDMI port and to the GTX 460 port respectively?

Hmm upon further research, it seems that this is one of those marketing gimmicks.. Thanks guys.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. All I know is that my i5 2500K's iGPU is screwing up reporting of my GTX 460 1GB's pixel fill-rate. It should read 32x827 (26.5 GigaPixels) but says 11.6 instead. It's not a huge problem but it still gets on my nerves.
