I will be running one 960 evo and using one gpu with a 7820x cpu. The tool that i found suggest using the m.2 slot right under the cpu socket. others have stated using the m.2 slot right under pcie slot 1 but im not sure? any help thanks

M.2 is available in three different slots, one sits between PCIe slot 1 (X16) and slot 2 (X4), one between the CPU and PCIe slot one, and the other under the chipset heatsink. The M.2 slot under the chipset heatsink is the “cooled” slot with a direct contact thermal pad and heatsink shared with the chipset PCH.

The other two slots have no cooling but the slot in between the PCIe lanes supports up to 22110 drives (110mm) compared to 2280 (80mm) for the other two.

Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t quite see an answer from that

Read your motherboard's manual. With the time it takes for you to post across multiple forums every time you have a question, you could read your manual and learn something.

my point being, someone on the gigabyte forums said they got better results with the one under the pcie slot. that chart says use the one under the cpu socket? hmmm i dont know

So, try them both and see which one works better? Post this question on the gigabyte forum?

To bad there’s really no info on it in the manual

Yours must be the only manual for a motherboard with M.2 slots which doesnt have a section that explains what they are, the features, and the limitations of each slot.

I know my Asrock, Gigabyte, and Asus motherboards all have sections that explains the M.2 slots. Maybe you have a defective manual, so you might want to contact Gigabyte for a replacement?

Was I suppose to get a laugh out of that cause it wasn’t funny

It wasn't meant to be. Laziness often has the opposite affect. Anyways, I have better things to do than have a back and forth with you. We can catch up the next time you post a question on multiple forums..........I'm sure I won't have to wait very long.
