OK, i noticed the previous thread discussing the Gigabyte board, so my previous question is moot. I'm now looking at the Epox 8KTA as the best choice for those of us who aren't fiendish about overclocking, and who might have legacy ISA devices we want to use. For the money it seems like a great choice. Any arguments against?

For socket A mobo, I have only tried Abit KT7 but shortly replaced by EpoX 8KTA+.
Follow w/ additional 8KTA2 for my wife's systme becuase I was so impress w/ 8KTA+'s stability and performance.

To be honest, I don't see any performance different gain from 8KTA2 over 8KTA+, but it does require less voltage to OC. (in theory, this shouldn't be the case but here is the reason)

I run T-750 at 950 at jumper setting of 1.825V, under the HW monitor it say, it run at 1.820V.

I run the same CPU at 950 at jumper setting of 1.825V, under HW monitor it say, it run at 1.855V.

Then I proceed w/ 1Ghz and set both at 1.85V, Plus model show it use 1.855V and A2 model show it run at 1.875V(which is more stable at 1Ghz on A2 model)

I've been running the 8kta2 for 2 weeks now with absolutely
zero headaches, installation or otherwise.

A little known fact is the epox is the only board to date
to support ata100 at the "bios" level with their latest
beta bios.

Even though Asus and others have ata100 with the 686, their
bios's as of yet do not support ata100 natively.

I typically don't do beta bios's, so I haven't done it
as of yet, but i'm sure a spec release will follow.

Just for fun btw, I ordered an MSI K7T Pro2a, and
am going to see if it is able to unseat the Epox.

One thing's for sure, no matter which one wins out ultimately,
I am going to be selling a top flight mobo in the next few days
in forsale forum.

thanks

From what I've heard the Epox and MSI are the BEST Socket A boards you can buy. I'm wondering why I got a KT7 instead of the 8KTA2. The funny thing is, the 2 most expencive ($135) Socket A boards you can buy (KT7 and A7V) seem to be the worst, while the 8KTA and K7T can be had for under $110 and are more stable and less problamatic if not at all.

I have the Epox 8KTA+ and I have been very pleased with it. I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy one.
