Gigabyte V-Power GPU Cooler

Hey All,

I thought I'd post this for those that are interested in replacing their stock GPU HSF. This isn't meant to be a review or installation guide, just some quick information.

Last week, I received and installed the Gigabyte V-Power Cooler. This was the first time I've ever replaced the HSF on a graphics card, but the stock cooler on the Visiontek x1950 pro that I have was ridiculous, in my opinion (I can't stand a noisy computer).

I haven't really had a chance to play with it much as I went out of town a couple of hours after installing it. However, what I have noticed is that the cooler is virtually silent when turned all the way up (there is a nice fan speed controller included) and is absolutely silent when the fan is turned down/off. The little gaming I've done so far (Half-life 2) hasn't caused any problems, so I guess I installed it correctly. 🙂

I have to say I also like the white LED that is present as it projects nicely out the side vent of my case (a Centurion Elite or something like that). Obviously that doesn't have anything to do with performance, but I appreciate the little touches. The LED also indicates if the fan is on as the LED goes off when the fan is turned off.

Well, that's it. Hopefully someone will find this information somewhat useful.

I haven't had a chance to test it. Any app you recommend that will function properly on Vista 64-bit?
