Gigabyte Triton

Ever since I bought my Antec P182SE (which I love, since they replaced any and all damaged parts absolutely free), I've been finding the "blingless" cases more and more attractive. I still miss having a side panel window (lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" from friends and such), but the professional look definately has an appeal to it as well.

With that said, I stumbled upon the Gigabyte Triton case the other day when looking for a low-mid range case for a friend's new-old build.

It has sort of a brushed-aluminum look like the Lian-Li and Silverstone cases, but I've read mixed reports of the case being made of steel, etc. If the front bezel is fully metal and the build quality is substantial, I might give this case a shot for a friend's new build.

Just from what you can see in the pictures, how would you rate this against the similarly-priced Antec Three Hundred or the Cooler Master Centurion 590?

nothing about this case stands out. why should we buy this case over any other case with 2 x 120mm fans and conventional mb and psu mounting?

-only 3 internal (cooled by fan) hdd bays. psu may be in the way of larger coolers (TRUE)
-plastic drive bay clips look very VERY cheap
-.7mm steel. not really a con but i'd prefer the brushed aluminum touch and feel of Lian Li cases

i wouldn't buy it unless it was under $35

It's a solid case using the same chassis as the Centurion 534 from Cooler Master. It is, however, a pretty small case. It will fit a lot of stuff but it won't have the cooling potential or expandability that a Centurion 590 might offer. It's definitely good for a case that you want to keep as a stealth machine to bring to LAN parties or to the dorm.

If you look at the first two links in my build thread you will see that Gigabyte case is very similar to the Kingwin I used. If I had a choice I'd take the 300. The tool-less drives were trash same for the card holders. The HD cage being sideways was convenient and the drive slides worked ok but the cage killed airflow. I had the TRU mounted and fit fine but the side vents must be blocked for the tower heatsinks to work properly.

Gigabyte = Just another Centurion-chassis (I call it that because the Centurion was the first I saw with this chassis design) based case. Many of the C-M Centurions have some metal in the front bezels too. Sharply edited as much of what was here before didn't apply to this thread - sorry.
. The Enermax Chakra has free ship right now - it's based on the Centurion-type chassis too. Getting hard to find mid-price cases that aren't... I prefer the Yeong Yang 5600 series chassis (particularly the R5605 version) to the Centurion design. It can be found in the Rosewill R5600 series and the Tt SViking (other places too if know what to look for). Stronger, plus you get rubber bushings in the HDD slides. Note that all the 5600s available now have 5-egg customer ratings. The C-M 590 might be worth a look too.
