I've read in a couple reviews that seem to say the Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI is perhaps a better performer than the Asus A8N-SLI.

Anandtech had nothing but great things to say...
"The Gigabyte turned in one of the highest overclocks that we have seen on a Socket 939 Dual-Channel board....To put this in perspective, this is a board whose reason for being is SLI video, but the excellent K8NXP-9 underneath is showing through. If SLI excites you, then consider the additional performance options that the K8NXP-SLI opens up with its outstanding overclocking capabilities."
"The overclocking capabilities of both versions will give any enthusiast a lot of pleasure. When you consider the possibilities with the SLI version, the math of potential gets very exciting. The only fly in the ointment is the disappointing DIMM voltage adjustments provided. However, even this may be patchable with something like the OCZ DDR Memory Booster to boost voltage ranges."

Agree or disagree?

Is the difference negligable, and therefore everyone is buying Asus now? Or is it that we're all sick and tired of waiting...

i was thinking about getting the gigabyte, but i ended up getting the Asus board, cause i had the opportunity to order it last thursday for $201. I'm sure they are both pretty good. The only thing i didn't like about the board is the DIMM voltage stuff. I'm planning to overclock, so that's a bit worrisome. All the reviews of the Asus board have been extremely positive; in fact, i read only one review with complaints, and it was because they were using the old bios. The new 1.02 bios fixed most of the problems. Anyways, the Gigabyte board might perform a tiny bit faster, but i doubt it will be that big of a deal. If you find a good deal on either, i'd jump on it (in fact i already did).

Asus is much higher quality as well as comes with more features. I think it is also faster, marginally but the fact remains.

The Asus got the Editors Gold the Gigabyte didn't so..

I went with the ASUS board for the following reasons.

1. ASUS's great reputation, and my previous history with ASUS boards

2. Gigabytes horrible failure with their Nforce3 boards (just read the posts in this forum). I never trust the reviews written by paid reviewers (how many have you read that say this board sucks!) not many or they wouldn't get new boards to review from the manufacturer. These guys are paid advertisement for the mobo makers. And you can bet any board they get to test, has been hand selected and tweaked by the maker. If you want to know the real scoop on hardware. cruise the forums where regular people with hands on experience with the retail product post candidly

3. Price (Gigabytes boards are always overpriced) and compared to ASUS their customer support sucks.

And I couldn't be happier with my decision. I've had the board up and running for almost a week, and have had only minor bios, and driver issues, which is to be expected with such new technology.

And does this thing ever fly !!!! I'm currently running rock stable 270 x 9.5 = 2565mhz on air cooling
